I'm new here at Primos and am not sure if I put this in the right spot. I am questioning whether or not the flash from my trail cameras is spooking deer. I have the original Cuddeback and a Cuddeback Excite. I have noticed that the deer are curious after a picture is taken at night as I have plenty of closeups of the deer checking out the camera. I was just wondering if anybody else has their doubts about the flash. I know that there are inexpensive NoFlash models out there but I have enough money in these cameras and don't really want to upgrade. What do you think?

I had a moultrie D40 that worked great and I had big bucks and does all over it. I never really noticed a problem with the flash after they had gotten used to it. IT never seemed to bother the deer too much. I guess someone liked it as well because they stole it.

There might be an initial scare from the flash, but they'll get used to it pretty quick. I have an infared cam that glows a little when it goes off, and they won't usually hang around too long after it goes off the first time. After a couple days they don't pay it any attention. If you think it is spooking them hang it higher up. They seem to not care as much when its over there head as they do when its at eye level.

Where I used to use flash cameras, when I would get a big buck on pic, i would get one shot of him. When I switch to IR, man did that change. If your deer are spooky, don't get a flash cam!
