Headed out with a few of my buddies for the first time this year for some Canadas and to try out my new layout blinds and decoys. The ducks were flying early, but we didn't have any decoys out for them and they were not flying low enough for a shot. After a light drizzle and 45 minutes of shooting light gone, a small flock of geese caught us off guard, we had to scramble back into out blinds and start calling, one of them committed to the set up and we had one goose down. For the next hour, we called at several other flocks pleading them to take a closer look but we finally decided it was time to move farther into the corn stubble and get away from the trees that seemed to hold them up. It worked, and after moving 6 dozen decoys, our blinds and working up quite a sweat, we had our limit.

My roommate also had a good hunt on his own at the river, he got 3 good sized geese (1 banded) and a black duck.
