I want to pick up the hobby of archery. Eventually I would like to go WT deer hunting with a bow. Can anyone recommend me a beginner bow to learn on and deer hunt? Someone recommend me a PSE. How are they?

Some things that would be helpful to know are, like what your draw length are, how much can you draw back. You looking for a bow that you can start out with and then up grade when you start deer hunting, or do you want a bow that you can keep for a while that you can use to hunt with.

Go to a good bow shop or sporting goods store that has a good size archery section and work with someone who knows bows. Take the time to get the measurements mentioned above and tell them what you're wanting to do with it, how much experience you have, etc. Also, since you're just starting out, DO NOT let them talk you into spending a huge amount of money. It's kind of like dealing for a new car....you make them sell you what works for YOU, not for their cash register. wink.gif

You have already gotten some great info., however, something i thought of is, if there is any way you could find someone that is already in to bow hunting that you can buddy up with to take to the bow shop with you. Someone that would look out for your best interest so to speak, it seems that more often than not anymore, bow shops are hiring folks that dont really know a lot about bows and how important it is for a bow to fit you correctly.

Is there anyone in your family that bow hunts, maybe at your church, at school, at work, anyone that you can get to know that bow hunts and can show you the ropes. It would really help if you did, rather than going it alone, it would save you a lot of mistakes and help you along a lot quicker for sure. Plus, its always more fun to hunt with family and friends to share it with. Good luck.
