Bucky, First of all welcome to the cabin... looks like you are pretty new here.

Dont get too caught up in what is the biggest and the best. I'm sure with you being only 15 you wont be shooting your new bow for a really long time... you'll still be doing a little growing and may grow out of your next bow and need a new one.....

I just want to stress one point to you... If it slings an arrow it will kill a deer. It doesnt' have to be the fastest or even close to the fastest..... It can be 10 years old for that matter. So for right now you may want to save yourself some money and just buy a used bow for a cheaper price...

(Sorry to any of you who have already hear my bow story)
Bucky, I have only been hunting 3 years now. My first year hunting I only had a rifle.... So i didn't get to hunt until the end of November.... well i wanted to be able to get out more so I was going to look into getting a bow. Well i had just gotten married and had a baby... still young so i didn't have a whole lot of extra money.... I actually almost considered just getting a credit card simply to pay for a brand new bow.... I wanted the best. Well over the summer I was talking to a friend from my church and i had mentioned that I was wanting to get a bow.... He goes into the other room and comes back with a compound in his hands... Handed it to me and told me to take it b/c it was just collecting dust. It's a Jennings Carbon Extreme.... Jennings isn't even around anymore.... It actually probably came out when you were like 1 or 2 years old......
So automatically I got excited about it and thanked my friend a million times..... But I kept thinking that this bow wouldn't be anygood.... besides it was like over half of my own age.... Surely this old bow can't be good.....
Well I went to basspro... (on a trip somewhere for my wife's B-day) and paid about $200 for all of the accesories that i had to get and arrows... The bow was just bare when he gave it to me, except for the string..... So i practiced up really well.... Archery season came around.... I spooked a 6 point the first morning in the woods with a bow and then shot a doe the next weekend.... You know what that arrow did? Went straight through that deer at 20 yards.....

Opening morning this year, you know what my arrow did? Complete passthrough on a spike and a doe... same morning.

Ok so sorry that was so long, but sometimes you can really get caught up in the newest and the best (especially at a young age)... but don't forget that people have been killing deer for thousands of years with sticks and strings. With that being said I dont even have a suggestion for you b/c I shoot a bow that might be older than you laugh.gif

I would check out the diamond razor edge, draw length is adjustable from 19 to 29 inches. Also the poundage is adjustable from 30 pounds up to 60 lbs, and the package deal from cabelas cost $329.

Im 13 and i have ordered Diamond THE ROCK. 60 to 70 lb. 25 to 29 in draw length. Its a really nice bow. light to.

I’m with JYAWN, don’t get caught up in the hype about “kinetic energy, Feet per Second”, etc.

As you are still growing, I would strongly advise against a 60 or 70 pound draw weight. An injured shoulder is painful and takes A LONG TIME to heal properly.

40 to 50 pounds and a well built two-bladed hunting tip will devastate any American deer.

Newer compound bows of light weight deliver more energy that the 70 pound recurves of yesterday.

If you have to spend money, buy good arrows, sights and release. The sights and release can be used later should you decide you want another bow.

I am 15. I shoot a Pearson generation II. I have it set at 29 inches and a weight of 60. It was probably a little bit more pricy than I should have gotten but I knew nothing about bows at the time. It cost me about 500 after sight, rest, arrows, etc. Get a bow you like but make sure you like bowhunting before spending over 1000 on a bow

I would look into the Diamond line up they make some good bows for a good price or the Pearson and Parker line
