I am looking for some direction or advice about hunting Colorado GMU 24 4th season for a cow.

I traditionally hunt GMU 511 archery with an either ###### elk tag. I did not get anything this year so my freezer is empty but I can get a leftover cow tag as a B license.

I know nothing about this area as all of my scouting is done in 511. One question I have is- is it even huntable that late in the season or is it snowed out? Secondly, it is possible that all of the elk move down lower to private property. Should that be the case it would do me no good to hunt there.

Any thoughts or direction would be much appreciated.

I am really open to any leftover cow tag/B license GMU but I have heard good things about 24. I just don't know about 4th season.

You might try the Oak Ridge State Wildlife area near Buford,
I hear this area is okay when the snow starts to fly. Lots of
pressure in the area though. You might also look a little
west of Meeker in th Piceance Basin, not quite sure if I
spelled that right. I hunt 24 in the 3rd season. The area
gets alot of pressure but there are alot of Elk in the
area.

Thank you. I will look those areas up.
