i have a primos groundblind i just purchased and im wondering if the spitfire expandable broadheads are going to pass thru the mesh without expanding while going thru the camo mesh. also, has anyone else had any problems with the zippers? i traveled 100 miles to a gander mountain to pick it up and when i put the stand up 1 of the zippers in the window was pulled shut but still hanging open. i was able to pull it back up, but about everyother time it sepperates when zipping it closed. dont want to make a 200 mile round trip to take it back for another blind and i didnt buy the 10 dollar protection plan on the zippers.
any help would be appreciated as when the time comes for the shot, i dont want it screwed up by the blades opening while going thru the mesh.
thanks!!

I am sorry to inform you that your blades will most likely ofen going through he mesh, and if they don't it will messup the arrow flight because there is not a cutting edge when the blades are closed. Sorry I cant help you with the zipper question, but I have never owned one of these stands. I know some other guys on here have so hopefully you will get your question answered.

I'd contact their Customer Service and let them know and see what they can do. As for the expandables, they will open. Only way to hunt in a blind with expandables is to hunt with the mesh windows out of the blind. If you try it you will not hit your spot. I've tried it just to see out of mine during the summer months and it will really affect your arrow flight... dry.gif

I had a DB Matrix and now have a Dark Horse. I've left both out for several turkey and deer seasons with no fade or "pink". The key is to brush it in well, especially the roof. I've shot Spitfires, Grim Reapers, 2-blade Rage, and even a cheap Walmart expandable thru the blind mesh with no adverse effects on either my arrow or broadhead. Every animal I've ever shot has been found close by and very dead.

I know most every company out their doesn't recomend shooting expandlbles through the mesh.

At what distances? I have never had any luck trying that in the back yard much less in the woods? What's the trick?

I don't understand how it would be possible to shoot expandables through the mesh without having them expand prematurely because on the rages for example the leading edge when they are folded is not sharp and there for would not be able to cut anything. Please expain yourself and inform me if i am mistaken on something. sad.gif

Sorry for the delay. I have shot from 15-25 yards with the expandables. Practiced in backyard on bag and 3-d targets (Rage practice blade only on bag.) Shot thru mesh and with mesh out of way. No difference in groupings. I shoot mainly the Rage 2-blade at deer and turkey. I used the others on coyotes, possums, and coons. I'm no tech, but I would guess the over the top expandables wouldn't deploy because the mesh doesn't have enough resistance to cause the O-rings on these to release the actual blades. As far as the Rage goes, I can only guess that the cutting tip is slicing a hole in the mesh just large enough not to affect the broadhead's deployment. Equipment: Bear Element at 57lb, Carbon Fury arrows (with duravane and blazers), Trufire sniper release. I've taken 3 does, 1 buck, 1 turkey, and numerous small game this way. It just seems to work for me.

I believe you completely but I was just wondering if u have ever tried paper testing your arrows after you shoot them through the mesh to see if they are actually oppening up on you.

No, I haven't (never occured to me, maybe I've just been lucky due to short distances on my shots.... something to consider post-season when my blind comes in from the field). By the way, I just purchased a Vision blind and have it out in the woods also. I noticed the mesh on it (and just about every other blind out there) is different than what's on the Dark Horse and Matrix. Seems to be a little heavier grade. I haven't shot anything thru it yet as I was too eager to get it set up. That may be a reason mechanicals have such a poor rep in regards to shoot-thru mesh in general. I'll let you know as soon as I get a chance to thwack something. If any Primos folks see this, maybe you could ask Keith or Brooks their opinions?
