i use GOEX in my flintlock rifle (lyman deerstalker) and i was wondering what you guys use? i use FFFF in my pan and FF in the barrel and i use 90 grains of powder.

i don't use a flint lock, but i like triple 7 the best, i think at one point i have tried them all. and triple 7 is clean burning, and i have never had a miss fire with it even after hunting in rain and snow all day.

ya i have heard that is the best for inlines, but here in PA the late season, which starts the day after christmas every year (as long as that day is not a sunday), we can only use flintlocks, bows or crossbows.....no inlines or percussion guns....i like it a lot thought i like the added challenge

Jim Shockey's Gold Pellets for me...awesome stuff! Just as good as they say it is!
Mike Reynolds
Gotta agree with stoutk on this one. Jim Shockey's Gold powder is the best of all I 've tried and I've tried almost all of them.

I use Goex FFF in my .54 custom flintlock both in the pan and barrel...My main charge is 80grs...
konrad
1972 vintage, Thompson Center Hawken, 45 caliber, percussion, GOEX FFFg, 75 grains, 235 grain hand cast, pure lead, T/C Maxi Ball

If I could find Shocky's Gold. I'd give it a try...non-corrosive.

If I could see it, I could hit it!

Them tiny sights get smaller every year!
Hammer 2
Shockey's Gold loose powder for me. I shoot 120 grains of powder under a Hornady 240 grain XTP. Deadly combo. I took a very nice 7 point last Saturday morning at 7:30 then took a spike at 125 yards that afternoon. I use to shoot Pyrodex but after giving that gold powder a try I will never go back. My muzzle loader has been good to me over the years. I have taken my 2 deer limit where I hunt for about 13 years strait.

i use the pyrodex but its for an inline....dont have a flintlock

Blackhorn 209.No more 777 after using this stuff!
