Well, the youth hunt went great. We got out to our spot, set the decoys and we no more than put the boat in the cattails and the birds started pouring in. They were in and out driving us nuts as we waited for shooting time. Finally legal shooting time came and we started the morning with a Pintail. Not long after a drake mallard. From there it was a parade of birds with many misses and then a drake woody. Then the action slowed down for a bit. Finally around 8:45 AM the birds started moving again and he was able to fill out his limit with a mallard and then a double on BW teal right at 9 AM. Ended the morning with 2 mallards, 2 bw teal, 1 wood duck and 1 pintail. Will has killed ducks before, but this was his very first limit. Nice job buddy!!!

Thanks fellas. We had a blast out there. I love waterfowlin' and im glad to see the heritage passed on. He really took to it last season and was rarin' to go when they dates came out for this hunt. Now we have to wait until Oct. 10 for the regular season to roll around and then we'll be back after em!

Thanks, that means allot. And to think i put up pics on another forum and there was a guy bashing the youth hunt cause it pushes all "his" teal and wood ducks out and that adults only do it to get their "fix" until the regular season comes around. I found those remarks not only selfish, but extremely laughable. Maybe he hasnt discovered scouting yet or the enjoyment of seeing someone else enjoy the sport we all love? Plus, theres 20 days for the birds to settle down and on the opener we've had more woodies and teal around the last few years than ever.

Anyhow, any youth or regular season hunt, if theres a young one that wants to try it, we're all about bringing them along. Ya gotta start em young if theyre gonna carry the torch into the future. And not only do they learn about hunting, land and animal management, but allot about life in general. And the perk is that when we're old and gray they just might remember when we took the time to get them started and will help us get out and enjoy what we love so much when we're not as chipper as we are today.

Hunting is a great thing and i encourage anyone to take youth out and introduce them whether you have a youth hunt or not. Not only will you make their day, but yours as well.

Wow what a jerk. And your right some of my best hunts have come in the last couple of season's when I wasn't toting a gun. I am kinda of like the guide for my family and scouted a bunch of birds for my little brother on the youth hunt and me him and my dad all went back in the next morning and me and my dad laught our butts off at whaching my little brother miss duck after duck, but he managed a few on those hunts and they where always fun to be on even though I wasn't the one shooting. I love the fact that the states put the youth hunts on and gives the kids a weekend thats all about them. Congrats again on a great hunt man and good luck when the regular season comes in.
