I have squirrel hunted for about a year or two now with mediocre success, I was wondering what some of you guys key in on when squirrel hunting as far as as terrain features and food sources? I mainly squirrel hunt with my bow to further ready myself for deer season. Keep in mind I live in New York so my techniques may vary compared to yours, however any tips are greatly appreciated
Thanks, Dustin

I have hunted squirrels for a while now and the 3 trees i seem to find most of my squirrels around are oak, hickory, and walnut....find those trees in your woods and focus on them your more than likely gonna limit out....and hunt in a stand you can see more and the arrow will pin the squirrel to the ground....hope this helps

i agree, ive got probably 20 or more this year and the majority of them came out of white oak, so....i wont squirrel hunt much more because of my bow hunting, unless one decides to walk in range while im bow hunting lol

If you have ever used a good squirrel dog it is a blast. I would recommend it to everyone.

Ienjoy sitting in the acorn ridges on my property and still hunting them. I pattern them during deer season and after then I take my little cousin and let him have at them. Great shooting practice, using a .22 with a scope. I am trying to work him up to a deer.
