has anybody tried this trail cam? I like the idea of being able to leave it and not have to go in and check it and just have it sent the pics to your email

YEa I love the idea of the camera and the price of it is high but when you add in the wireless internet card and then the monthly fees, it seems like its too much money for my pocketbook.

Moultrie also has this camera out for sale. Not only are the cameras expensive, but so are the monthly fees. Also, I think Smart scouter charges you per picture....so you better not get pictures of nothing or it will ad up!

I think after a couple more years, these cameras and monthly charges will go way down!

Great concept...but not for me!

The MOultrie cameras and the montly plan is cheaper compared to SmartScouter.

SmartScouter offers two carriers – Sprint and At&t.

Although we offer two carriers, the wireless plan cost for an average user is practically identical. The details of the plan is as follows.
SPRINT: Average cost of $20/month *

1. One time activation fee of $20.00 (must be repaid if account is cancelled and reactivated).

2. Monthly wireless fee is charged per picture transmitted, which varies based on the size of images you capture and upload.

$14.99 per month base fee plus usage charge as follows
- First 500 pictures each month: $0.04 for each LOW resolution image, $0.10 for each HIGH resolution image, and $0.39 for each MEGA resolution image.

- Pictures 501 and beyond: $0.02 for LOW resolution, $0.05 for HIGH resolution, and $0.19 for each MEGA resolution image.

Months not in use (off-season) - $7.99 per month (Hibernate account up to 6 months per year).
The emailing of pictures is free. You may email the pictures up to 6 email addresses.
Cancellation fee of $75.00
Wireless Contract required on activation to use your device.
Below is a chart estimating what your total MONTHLY bill would be based on various picture levels and image sizes. (Keep in mind, the average user captures between 125 and 160 pictures a month).

When your camera reaches 80% of your plan, you will receive a reminder email. At this point you may call us and upgrade your plan or let it run out for that period. The plan will reset at the beginning of each monthly cycle.
The camera will stop sending pictures when your monthly picture count is reached.
There are no roll-over plans.
If you plan not to use your camera, call us and we will hibernate it for you for $7.99 per month.

yea they are very pricey its a good idea but i don't see how ppl can afford the camera

and you call yourself a deer hunt???. what ever happened to some good old fashon scouting, for a 16 year old kid it sounds pretty LAZY to me tongue.gif .

well its for them spots you just don't want to keep going in and out of you know bedding areas but i agree it is a lazy way of doing it laugh.gif

Sounds like it would also work for scouting places in another state, or a really long way away.

Definitely has its advantages....just not affordable to the general public at this time!

I will wait for the prices and plans to drop dramatically first!
