First my computer locked up after I told my whole story, and now I just hit exit on accident. Here we go again.
All right so my buck was nothin special. We spotted him right off the road as we passed and as freeman, my friend and freeman15 on the cabin, screamed o right there! I quickly stopped the truck and stepped into the ravine beside the road. I ranged him at 38 yards and he finally looked back to see what was going on and turned broadside. He ducked the arrow just a tiny bit causing it to go through one lung and hit the spine, but he still managed to run 400 yards!!! My goal was a P&Y buck but needless to say I got a little excited.
The next day we spotted freeman's after talking with a couple of our friends. I had seen an antelope in the same area as we had stalked right up to one the day before without him bolting. I thought it had to me him. We went over and checked it out and never saw, and never saw him, all of the sudden I spotted him bedded about 45 yards off the road. Freeman got out and snuck up to within 38 yards an shot him in his bed. He needed a follow up arrow but only ran a total of 150 yards. FIRST BIG GAME ANIMAL! ALRIGHT!
I went out yesterday (4th day of the season) to a different area I had never hunted. It seemed like where we were hunting the previous 2 days had a 10:1 buck to doe ratio, which was good when hunting bucks but not anymore. Anyway I finally found all the does and after a few stalks and unsuccessful shots I spotted a doe and 2 fawns bedded about 150 yards away. I tried to drive passed them withouth them spooking but they got up, luckily going up a big ravine parallelling the road. I quickly got out and snuck up to this cluster of bushes. I ranged them at 38 yards but they spooked out to 62. Still not knowing what I was the doe took a half step towards me making her quartering to me. I figured I could put the arrow in front of the front leg and send it in through the vitals, and that's EXACTLY where the arrow hit. It actually went completely throught he offside shoulder. She ran a mere 182 yards and fell in site. It was a RIVER of blood. It was quite a shot and I was pumped.
My buck stretched the tape at 9 inches and freeman's went about 11. Here are some pics, I will get the videos up when freeman sends them to me. Sorry guys I think i was a lot more in detail the first 2 times I typed these stories, lol.
