So I am confused and am enlisting the help of all of you. I was always under the impression that mule deer were not like white tails and could not be called in. I thought it was always a spot and stalk kind of deal.

I was talking to someone today and they told me that they grunt and doe call for Mule deer just like they do for whitetails? Any of you ever do this?

I was going to rattle, but if it works, I will do it all. I drew mule deer in the Gila this year. BIG BUCKS!!

So I am taking it by that 50 views but zero replies that nobody else has experienced this either?

I am going to buy some calls and see what happens.

Good luck this season fellas.

Mule deer make almost all the same vocalizations as whitetails. I shot a 3 point last year that was chasing a doe and grunting every other step. He probably grunted over 100 times in 10 minutes. I have called in mule deer with doe bleats, fawn distress and a grunt tube. Check E.L.K. game calls they have a very simple mule deer call that works great. I carry one in my pocket and call does and bucks all year while working in the woods. I have had does almost run me down doing a fawn distress. I have never tried rattling for Mulies but it works on whitetails and blacktails so why not on mulies.
