Okay, most doors aren't wide enough for a moose mount to fit through. So how do you get it in the house? My wife and I are looking at a house and the wall that has the fire place would be perfect for a moose mount but how do i get it in the house? Sounds silly but I think it is still a good question.

hmm maybe try and turn it side ways with the tips of the antlers going up and down, and weave it in like you would a couch...sliding glass doors?,remove windows?..lol

Take the mount to your taxidermist and have it turned into a removable horns....
I am having this done with My elk....55" mainbeams won't fit through our doors. Get is officallly scored before you do this...

187 hit it right on the head.
I can't imagine getting a large animal mounted without having removable antlers. I did it on my elk's pedistal mount and will do it with anything else I shoot of decent size (IF I'm lucky enought to do it again).

The removeable antlers is the way. For the one large 6 X 6 elk I shot, I measured my sliding glass door openings and told the taxidermist the sizes. He set his door to that size and made sure he could get the mount through it before attching the antlers for good. We had to twist and turn the mount while getting it in but it fit just fine.

Or you could just learn taxidermy, bring the antlers in,and then the hide, and mount it yourself inside..lol

Sliding glass doors work unless you have to go down a hall way too. Just do detatchalbe.

You would be amazed how fast a cheep any local glass and window place will take out a large window and put it back in 10 minutes later. If taking a window is cheeper than having the mount converted to removable horns, I'd do that.

K, ive got an idea. (for your next moose hunt) Take a bowl of grain, acorns, molasses, and chuncks of salt and set it just inside of an open window. This will make the moose do all the work as far as getting his head and antlers in. Hes had them up there all his life, he ought to be good at manouvering them. once he gets his head in, sneak around back and pop him in the hump with a large caliber rifle. Lights out. (when I say lights out do it at night so no one can see and just tell your neighbor it wa a backfire.) Then chainsaw the head off and nail it to your wall.
Jeez I'm smart.
