Well this is the final week of WV's spring gobbler season and I haven't filled a tag yet. I will get out again the final day which is the 23rd. The woods are pretty green and getting thick but I was able to call a bird in the last day of last years season so I'm hopeful.
I went out this past weekend and didn't hear a thing. Part of my problem is I have a small area to hunt, I know the birds are there because I hear them and seen the turkey sign, They don't roost on my property so I have to try to call them in after they are down on the ground. We'll see if jake mobile and his flock can help me out a little.

Well, good luck. I took off a day of work and can hunt Thur, Fri, Sat. I am hoping to call in at least 2, maybe 3. I am trying to get some friends their first birds as well. You are right, it sure is getting green and thick. If I can come across one cheap, I will get a Jake Mobile too, if not, then next year.

Good luck to you. Many birds are taken on the last day of the season. Our season ended the 17th and things were thick and green here also. Real hard to see anything until they are on top of you for the most part. Hope you bag a last day gobbler.

I was there the 18th-21st and had a rough four days. I believe it was winding down. I got on one gobbler the 19th but I couldn't get him to commit. I worked him for 2 1/2 hours but he wouldn't get closer than 100 yards. I'd reposition and try him again but he wouldn't get closer. I would like to have had another chance (hit the reset button if you will) so I could have tryed something different. I called real aggressively to get him fired up and then I'd go silent. He would close in but then hang up. I had him triple gobbling and at on point he gobbled every breath four times. I would have liked to have tried getting really close and then start scratching the leaves. Maybe that would have sealed the deal.
A friend and I hunted opening week but it was a nightmare. They were badly henned up and all we would hear was a little gobbling on the limb and then they would shut up. No late morning gobbling at all. We heard nothing after the flydown.

cc, I hunted first day and it was awesome, I had 3 gobblin for the first hr and killed one at 715. The second week I hunted and all we heard was late morning gobblin, nothing off the roost. Last 3 days, I only heard 1 way far off. Season needs to come in earlier.
