I have a barrel bait set for spring bears here in Idaho and the Crows/Ravens are cleaning me out. How do I stop those little %&*# to get out of my barrel?!

make a scarecrow, put him in your treestand. the bears will get used to him too.

Put a lid on it and cut a hole in the side of the barrel. Bears can get in but the ravens can't. rolleyes.gif

the lid idea is good. or put some logs on top to keep the birds out, the bear will just move the logs when they come in.

These guys gave you your info, just place some long sticks in the holes in the sides, the bear will pull them out to eat, plus he can't grab a big chuck and run off, he will have to get a paw full each time. The crows and ravens will not get to it with the sticks in place.

You have problems with crows? Mine is always raided by raccoons! Dang little things. I just use very heavy logs only a bear can move.

Hey Dipsh.....there are hundreds of crows. I don't live at the bait site so I can shoot them all day long. Besides that there is a crow season in Idaho that is currently closed. I'm not losing all my hunting privelages over a bird. Great advice though way to think it thru. Your outdoor knowledge is astounding.

hey don't pick on cob, he still thinks a blacktail is a legitimate big game animal.
