GOBBLE GOBBLE GOOOOBBBBBBLE! 38 more points for us. Got a 24.4 lb Tom in a pouring rain.

I had to crawl through a manure spread field to look down a hill. When I got close I could see turkeys every where 300yds away. I put the decoys out incase they came up the hill and busted through the fence to far away. I set up on the fence line next to a 4ft diameter rock and pulled out the Primos Box Cutter. I love the box call for its great sound. I had to try to keep it dry but it worked fine. The 6 Toms all turned to look but saw nothing and all the turkeys headed into a swamp on the edge of the field. I was shocked as to why they left. I waited for 30 minutes and 2 Toms came back out.

I figured I needed the decoys to get there attention so I crawled the 20yds back out in the field behind me and returned to the rock. I put the biggest one on my head like a hat and the other one I waved up over the grass slowly so they would see it. They saw it just as I gave them the clucks on the mouth diaphram. They looked up and then started to walk my way. They were about 250yds out. I took the other decoy off my head and put it on a stick and made it look like a hen walking down the fence row. One of the Toms start to come at a good walk. I got back by the rock and waited with the Winchester super X2. I waited and waited and waited! Nothing. I peeked around the rock and he was standing at 10 yds jut on the other side of the fence. My gun was in the wrong direction and I couldn't move. He turned and started toward the decoys so I waited. I couldn't see him so I moved the gun and peeked over the rock and saw his back to me at 5 ft on the other side of the rock. Then I saw the other Tom stareing straight at me. I knew the party was just about over so I got up put the bead on his head and shot the Tom at 7ft. I think the wad was still carrying the shot when it blew his throat out. There was blood and skin on my decoy. Absolutly the most nerve racking hunt I have ever been on. All this in the rain and I am soaked. 1" spurs 9"beard and he weighed in at 24.4lbs. He must have weighed 5 lbs out of the egg. wink.gif

Hey guys, sorry I havn't posted up much. Been crazy busy. Congrats to all you guys who have scored!! It's been pretty quiet here in PA so far for me. I did score on Sat our opener, but it was a jake. I am not a huge fan of shooting jakes, this is only the second one I have shot in 12 seasons. BUT... the 3 jakes I had infront of me gave me the best turkey show I have ever seen in the woods in my life. They were inside of 20yds for over 20mins doing all things a springtime gobbler does! For the last 5 mins before I finally decided to shoot, one of them repeatedly had it's way with my DSD hen while the other 2 watched on in amazement. After talking myself out of shooting one about 10 times I finally gave in to temptaion and shot the one that looked to have the longest beard. It had a 4.5 in beard and almost half in spurs and weighed 15 lbs. I did take all the required pics to enter it, but I still have another PA tag and 2 NY tags and almost 5 weeks left to hunt. So if I can't upgrade soon I will enter it but for now I am just gonna try to upgrade this week. (I know 19 pts is better than nothing, and I have them if all else fails. wink.gif )
BYWY
Here he is and they are all special. Congratulations to all that have scored and I am proof your luck can change with just 1 good hunt. Im heading to MO next week to close out there season. I got 5 more days in MS and had two gobbling good this morning.

Just so you all know Gobble Addicts computer is down and he is out hunting everyday and seeing birds and getting them to come in,but all his buddies are shooting right now,his day will come because he is in the birds,so just too let you all know he is still out there and soon enough he will have a bird for your team! Chances are it will be a biggin too! biggrin.gif
deucebump
Hey thanks for the info PMR! I know rex is a turkey machine and will add points to our lead. And just so the rest of you guys know i have been out everyday and am struggling bad! I almost got it done today but he just vanished at about 80 yds. My bud just roosted 2 Slammers, so hopefully the morning will produce a big DOUBLE!! It's his spot so he gets first shot but after that is over!
Hardcore
AWSOME!!!!!!!!! Way to hammer the birds! I got a tag for next week and hope to slam another big one. I saw a double bearded bird that is about 25lbs+. Congratulations on the great birds and team effort! wink.gif
struttintom
Guys I know its just a Contest but when everyone on this team hunts hard and competes it makes it just that much more fun! You all are great teammates, the way it is looking we might just win , I hope so that a way we will be defending champs next year
Gobble_adict
I'm back boys. It was a good 5 day stretch. Hunted everyday. Opening day we passed a group of Jakes that were bullying 3 toms and keeping them away from the hens.

Saturday was a wash. Had birds coming in and someone shot twice about 100 yards down the ridge.

Sunday we were covered up with birds. Called in a 24 pounder for my buddy and tried to get another bird that was in the area and vocal but busted him so I'll try him later.....he is a monster.

Monday again covered up with birds. Patience got the best of me and I let my buddy talk me into moving on the birds and it worked but not for both of us. He got the strutter a 22 pounder.

Today (tuesday) Success. I got a 19.5 pounder just over a 9 3/4 beard and just under 1 inch spurs.

Hoping to upgrade soon. Looks like you guys have been shooting birds in the face in my absence.

GOOD WORK!

Rex
Maken'em'jelly
Goin to try and get out a couple more times out of state, but the seasons are quickly shortening. I'm hoping to get a merriams this year. My BIL and I scouted last weekend and saw 5 jakes. Hopefully there's a couple of toms' in the area as well. Great job thus far team.
Gobble_adict
I will post my pics tonight. Just did a rough score and looks like I'll be adding about 38 points for the team so that will put us up to 290....we need to lengthen that lead as much as possible.

Keep up all the great work fellas.

Rex
struttintom

I want to see it over 300! All we need is 1 more bird. Other teams are coming on fast. We have 2 weeks left in Wisconsin. I will be out there trying! Congrats to Gobble_adict.

OK I went ahead and entered the jake I shot back on the first day. (It's not quite gonna put us over the 300 mark yet though.) But I still have 3 weeks to hunt and hope to upgrade, VERY SOON!!! Don't give up on me yet.

Anybody heard from farmersHS lately??
burch66
Deucebump,

Actually that puts us at 303.75, once they add your bird & and the one posted by Gobble_Adict.

Way to go guys!!
struttintom

Maken'em'jelly
I'm still huntin lookin to upgrade. We'll see what happens out of state.Great job guys. Lets walk away with this contest.
I Hunt 365
could you guys PLEEEASSSSSE stop killing turkeys.... it's making it very difficult for my team to win.

Thanks.
Hardcore
A plea to stop! Just puts an assasign in the snyper mode! The Tom's are starting to compete for the left overs in Wisconsin. The hens are sitting on the nest longer each day coming out to feed in the last several hours of light before fly up. Watched 3 big boys fighting and chaseing Jakes last night. They should be very callable and the B-mobile will be HOT! Going snipeing! wink.gif

Here is a picture of our kills and the members who got them. If we win I will post it with the rest of the team members pics if they get a bird or not. I will need a face pic or hunting pic PM'd to me after the contest is over.
