Just checking in with the team. Went down to GA this past wknd and heard about 16 or so different gobblers on our land. Of course its like 4,000 acres so I didn't get to cover all of it. But thats what I heard in the Spots I like to hunt.

WHERE 'S OUR TEAM? NOBODY IS TALKING!!!!!!!!!!!

Mar 11 2009, 04:03 PM
I don't know where they are Rick. I am here waiting to talk turkey. I have not heard a gobble yet, but I have spotted three big longbeards. I hope to get one this next week.
I patterned my gun yesterday and out to 40 yards it was deadly! I took a shot at 60 just to see what the results were and it put 12 in the head and neck! I am pumped up about opening day.
I am good with either Spurs R Us or Double Gobble. Everyone else let us know what yall think so we can get our name posted.

birdman i have a sbe 2 with a rhino choke & nitro 4x5x7.
put 298 pellets in a 10 inch circle at 40 yds. i had one bird
two years ago hang up at 62 yds. he rode home in the back of my truck.

Mar 11 2009, 07:11 PM
I am not real sure about the way to make the signature, but someone I am sure will help us out.
Rick that is awesome! I have not used the nitro loads, but have heard good things about them. 298 pellets is incredible! I put 142 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 with my Browning BPS with a Trulock Choke shooting 2 oz Winchester HV #5's. I may try some of the nitros next year, but I am satisfied for now.....lol
The fartherest I have killed a bird was 51 yards and it was my first bird. All of my other birds have been from the 15 to 30 yard range.

Well, our season started here this morning. It was nasty (cool, rainy, windy) this morning and I heard zero gobbles. It stopped raining a little while ago and I plan on going out after lunch for a while. Hopefully they will crank up over the next few mornings. I will keep you guys posted.

Mar 15 2009, 03:04 PM
I heard my first gobbles of the year this morning before church. I had one sound off about 4 times, but he was a long way off and never really got a good location on him. The weather is turning pretty and I am off from work this week. Hopefully I can get us on the board in a few days. If not, there is still plenty of season left. Wish me luck, cause Lord knows we need it when we are after these ole longbeards!

Well this week has been slow so far for me. I hunted about 6 hours yesterday, and heard no gobbles and no hen talk.
This morning I did hear 2 birds at daylight. They only gobbled a couple times apiece. I went and set up where I thought one of them was roosted. It was a thick fog and at 10:30 I had to leave my setup and to be honest, I am not sure they could see good enough to fly down! I did hear some hens and find some fresh tracks, so hopefully over the next few days my luck will change.
Stay after 'em Bama. Sounds like you got a lot of action in your neck of the woods.
