Got a PM from 'Brosia of some Iowa turkeys. She seemed awfully fired up about the upcoming spring season. Thought I'd share the pics of her latest scouting adventures. Chris and I both agree these don't look like Mississippi turkeys.

That is funny right there. Brosia's scouting is really paying off. I'll try to get her to come to Mississippi so she can chase the real thing. She said she was going to shoot them off the roost with her bow this year. laugh.gif

If you kill one near roadkill, is that considered baiting??
Ambrosia
Yep, hoping my plan comes together...LOL... tongue.gif

Brosia calls that scoring a double.

I haven't ever tried one but Chris says they taste just like owl if you cook 'em right.
Ambrosia

If the weather is hot, she lets them stay on the road and let's mother nature do the cooking. She said there is nothing like road chicken and possum on the half shell prepared in the Iowa sun. Delicacy in Brosia's family. She has kept those time honored family recipes alive for a while now. In fact, she has now taken over the title of master roadkill chef. Some of her dishes are:

Dab of Dog
Five Pounds of Possum dumplings and gravy
Flat cat cakes
Roasted Road Chicken
Defunked Skunk

and her specialty-
Stir Fry Fritters and Critters-a mixture of all things roadkill.

In fact, Brosia is coming out with a new Roadkill Cookbook for those who love Chinese Food-99 Ways to Wok Your Dog

Now Chris...you forgot your favorite of my recipes!! Smeared deer in red sauce. laugh.gif

I didn't forget. I was saving that one for the next recipe sharing post usually found on either the front porch or the deer hunting forum. But since you brought it up, Brosia waits 'til after dark to go after the elusive whitetail deer. She only gets her one at night. She usually runs over it with her 1972 Ford Galaxy with homemade brush/deer guards. Once she hits her prize, she fries the deer and then either smothers it in red sauce, or calls and gets the recipe from us Southern folks for tomato gravy. MMMMMMGood.

LOL.. ya'll are too much.... that is funny

sad thing is, I've actually tried to stalk in closer to those stupid buzzards more than once when I forgot my bino's... only to realize after wasting alot of time and energy that they weren't going to gobble, no matter what I did!!
