I was just wondering what site you guys/girls get your topo maps from. In particular, I hunt Montana, usually SW MT and Central MT. I am looking for a detailed map the 1:24,000 to scale map to be exact. I know all about Google earth and the such and its a good tool to use but nothing beats a good map. The ones at the local forest service are 1:100,000 and 1:126,000 to scale, not good enough to plan a hunt off of. I am only looking for advice on the 1:24,000 scale maps or better, I want a detailed topo map of the areas I am looking at hunting this year. Thanks to all that give their info on this subject.

I was going to say Mytopo too, they are kind of spendy but they will put the exact map you want in your hands in about 2 days.

national geographic has state topo maps soft ware, they are the best i have ever seen, they show the topo, roads, and water holes better than anything else, the only thing i don't like about it it doesn't show what is privite land or N.F. or BLM. but it shows you everything else in great detail, and you can down load it to your gps. they are a little pricey, i think i paid around $70.00 for mine, but it is worth every penny of it.
hope this helps you.

I have a subscription to www.mapcard.com. Pretty good site. You can buy the maps off there too and they are really nice quality. You can get folding waterproof ones.
