Full Version: Lack Of Response
Primos Cabin Chat > Primos® Cabin Chat > Equipment

I am amazed at the lack of response, compared to the number of views on most topics. At first I thought that I just might be asking very uninteresting questions. Then I looked at other posts in the other subject lines. I am very safe in using less than 10% of the people that look answer. Now I will admit that I still might be posting lack lustre subjects but many other topics that are posted are very intersting. Anyone have any insight into this lack of response?

I might add that many times when I view a topic the answer I would have given has already been posted. I still try to post an I agree.

It is a very different crowd on this website compared to others like ifish.net, archerytalk.com, and huntingnet.com I guess if you really need a question answered; it is best to post on several different sites.

Savage D, I have seen the same thing happen lots to many different people on here... I don't have an explanation for it?.... but, I don't think it's personal...

I think guys that have been on here a while get tired of answering the same questions over and over and over and over... I know I do... for goodness sakes people, go back and look at the previous topics or use the "search" function or learn to do your own research on the internet...

however, I think alot of times the threads that really get going are the ones that get "hi-jacked" and then take the thread to some whole other hot button issue... that seems to be the case most often.....

anyhow, I responded to you this time, so at least you know I'm on your side....

if you really want to get alot of responses and start a discussion just talk about how great obama is, or abortion, or some other topic that has little do actually do with hunting.... or, if you want to stick to hunting topics, just start bad mouthing QDM or gun hunters... LOL

very well, and diplomatically, said... and very true... "different crowd" is an understatement... still, I love The Cabin...

it also counts every time it is viewed even people who have veiwed, responded and are checking to see whats new.
like never ending hunting story it has over 20,000 veiws fom what i can tell we only have 13,000 members blink.gif

that and we try to aviod you wink.gif

just kidding biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

it is a random deal i asked on a site full of hunters what recipes they used and got 3 reponces so either everybody want to keep theirs a secret or only 3 people have killed anything to cook

I feel the same way. I posted a few topics on muzzleloaders when I purchased mine, and got little to no response. Guess there just not that exciting. Now I am going to start reloading my own shells after I get my tax returns, so be ready to give me lots of advice, cause I know nothing about it.

I have noticed that myself, I guess the only way to people to talk is find something for them to argue about.
Savage Dude
Well I can understand avoiding me as I have a penchant for being a butthead (that is a family site term) at times. Now just as an FYI I was not complaining merely making an observation. With the collective knowledge available within, I was really surprised how little actual response there is to about any subject other than those that "365" mentioned.

mellow.gif maybe they just like looking at the pictures.

What was the question? unsure.gif

As far as guns go, I am much more likely to ask a question than be able to answer one. I am mostly an archer.

If you need archery help, ask away. Other than that, I would probably just confuse you. smile.gif

sometimes I view the board when Im at work and only have time to read the post. Sometimes there is a topic that I read and don't agree with and instead of answering and continuing the debate I move on the the next post. Then there are times when I'm looking for answer but really don't have anything to contribute so I just read the post. I always leave the cabin a little better informed.

I dd not post this to be critical of anyone, I was merely making a general observation. I just really like the discourse and would like to see more. I have noticed that when you do speak up Dale that is usually something of value.

Guess I needed to say that twice.

I have noticed lately that a lot of people are also not posting that much, I stick the email response on when I post some thing and this last week I am getting bout 10-15 emails a day from here and that's way done, I use to get 20-30 a day.
And I agree with you that your can be a butt head ha tongue.gif laugh.gif

A couple of other things go into the number of times a post is viewed or responded to. We have a lot of folk that are not members and come to the site just to read posts. You don't have to be a member to do that and it will still log as someone viewing the post.

The cabin is also seasonal. We have a tremendous amount of traffic durring Turkey and Deer seasons with luls in between. Right now we are down on traffic which is nice for the Mod's biggrin.gif

I don't post near as much as I used to and I usually anly post if I feel I have something to add to the thread than just a me too or a ditto. I am generally on-line at least twice a day morning and evenings. No spam tonight so I am catching up on my reading and posting biggrin.gif

I don't post if I don't have a good or right answer for some of them. Don't want to mislead. I also like picture browsen.
gube
I don't visit very often and usually only respond to posts in which I can input some usefull or interesting info.

This is what I've noticed, it's always slow till it gets close to hunting season and everyone gets fired up, except for the diehards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only respond if I have something positive to add and have experience in the area discusssed...I don't answer if I don't agree...

...I don't answer if I don't agree...

But you should, there are two sides to every coin. Diversity of opinion fuels a good discussion.

I just had to reply again. I saw this thread had 352 views and only 20 replies. biggrin.gif I also noticed when I logged in that we had 61 guests online (who can view posts and not reply) and only 19 members. So basicly, 2/3 of the viewing public can't offer an opinon.

I think that is what we see in a lot of threads mine included.
archer jr
I'd say it's because we want to see other peoples responses to the question also.

Heck sometimes I look at a post over 5 times just to see what everyone else is saying.

I also find myself agreeing with alot of the answers, plus i'm the one of the new guys on this site ,and my five year old daughter is more knowledgeable about computers than i am.Its hard to learn about computers sitting in a deer stand!
