i just got a new pup for coon hunting she is just over 11 months old. she is a blood hound not a preffered breed but i got her for free with papers. she trails and trees with an older trained dog just perfectly. but when we get to the tree and shoot the coon out and the fight starts she wants nothing to do with it. and hides behind me or someone else. do any of yall have any suggestions? i would like to be able to hunt her by her self but i dont think i can if she doesnt want anything to do with the coon once it hits the ground...any suggestions will be much appreicated thanks jb

Try getting a coon skin and let her play with that for a while after you let her trail the scent while dragging it with a rope.

Blood Hounds are not breed to be aggressive like a coon hound,they are breed as man trailers, this may be in her breeding. If she will trail and tree a coon I would not be to worried about it.
PS. It may be inexperience as well she is only 11 Months old, and this is likely her first season, Keep her with the old dogs a little longer.
