I will be hunting in southeast new york. wondering if 20ga using #3 buckshot is good ? A few guys in this area use this combo with some luck. It is iight enough for me (senior).

I don't know anyone around here who uses a shotgun to hunt coyotes so I'm not sure if that is a good combo or not....it could be alright for close range shots but that would leave a big hole also. Most people use a .22/250 or a .243. Leaves a lot smaller hole also if you are at all interested in tanning the fur.

yaa #3 should be good. in Ohio we cant go to #3 we can only use #4 and higher. but i would use it not over 50 yards max

You should pattern the gun to see what you max effective distance is and keep your shots limited to that. the 20 will knock em dead for sure.
I kill em with a 12 and #4 turkey loads and have never lost one yet.
