I think in Iowa, your probably gona see them at all times of the day, but probably more so in the mornings and evenings. I dont get up early to hunt no stinkin yotes, just turkeys and deer, so I just go when ever I get out of bed. If you can, set up facing away from a live stock pen/pasture or chicken coup.. Perhaps between the livestock and the area you suspect he might come from. yotes are always patroling those areas for an easy meal, maybe a sick calf that died or something.. I have a friend who hunts a hog farm and he just sits and waits for them. He said they always come looking for dead pigs that have been discarded .

Just before or right at first light where I hunt.

Coyotes are generally nocturnal creatures, though some are seen in the day, as a lot of us have, but for the most part they're pretty lazy during the day laying around and snoozing. Coyotes therefore are just gettin active in the evening for their "night on the town" and in the mornings they're just gettin home. Night time hunting is probably the best but not all states allow that, but the really can be called any time cause if you sound irresistible enough, they'll get off their lazy rumps and come running!

I think both are good. Or you could hunt at night which is a little a bit of an adrenaline rush. Not exactly knowing where he will pop up at and you shine the light and BAMMM right in front of you. Not really but night hunting is fun.

Ive had my best luck in morning, unless the moon is around full. Then it seems bout noon theyre back out for awhile, then right before dark. My theory is they hunt all night, bed down bout dawn, need lunch, then a nap before resuming night shift. could just be a theory tho.
