The Wifey got her FIRST DEER!!! biggrin.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif Sunday evening we walked the long way (1.5 miles) to the edge of a medow... saw a buck and 3 doe 400 or 500 yds. away. sun had just gone down so we had half a hour yet.... Managed to use cover of some trees and get to 190yds. Wifey made a hell of a shot and broke his back. I am so proud of her! Pics!

Got mine earlier that morning at about 8:30. Was climbing up a hill to glass the other side when about 7 doe and a spike crested the hill above me about 165yds away. I stopped but they saw me and just stood there watching. I got a tripod out, sat down had my gun ready and was looking to see if the little guy was a fork or not (only a fork or better is legal). Well.... 5 minutes pass and I see horns moving behind the doe! ohmy.gif huh.gif ohmy.gif Soon enough he walks to the top of the hill by the doe... never sees me and I take the shot. He buckles, jumps and kinda walks off back outa sight. The does stand there for a minute and then take off. I wait 10 minutes and go look and he is laying about 20yds from where I shot him at! biggrin.gif

Awesome lookin' deer! Suprised me to see such dark horns on your buck since he lives in the sagebrush and cactus ????. Looks awesome though. He has the looks of a deep timber buck but definitely not in place...hahaha.

Way to go to both of you! That's awesome!!!!

Congrats on both bucks and for getting the old lady to hunt with you. My girls went on her first hunt this year, very exciting. The more people we get in the sport the better!

Thanks! Yeah, it's down south a ways. If you want to head down this way shoot me a PM. It's a fairly easy unit to get drawn for and we saw a lot of deer every day.... not a lot of big ones but a lot of deer.

THANKS!!! Yeah.... it was a long, good day! biggrin.gif By the time I got her's gutted, dragged it about 3/4 mile to the road, walked another 1.5 miles to camp and got my truck I was beat. But is was the best kinda beat I've ever been! laugh.gif

Mine was easy though.... I was out there before sunrise but only walked about 3/4 (strait line) of a mile from the truck. Did scouting earlier and seen some deer there so went back to about the same spot. Was then able to drive the truck to about 300yds of the deer and it was downhill from there! biggrin.gif
