Hey fellas. Me and some buddies are considering a spring turkey hunt this coming year in SD. I really would like to get a Meriam. Just wanted to see what everyones experience or thoughts were about the state as far as turkeys. Thanks in advance.

We have enjoyed great success in South Central South Dakota in the past, plenty of birds, and seem to be a lot of them around this year as well. You should do just fine!

Sound great. Me and a few buddies are doing the same. I never been up tha way so its tough finding an outfitter. yo dont know who's legit or not. what I was told was there is alot of "cross" turkeys in SD. Never heard of a cross before, but they say they are not true merriams. Dont know/ I have a few places tha I am looking at in SD Bad river Buck and Birds, looks real nice, then ther is South Dekota tropies, and antlered ventures. let me know what you find out. I am going to start looking in other states like washington wyoming. Ill let you know what I find out.

You can get Merriams and hybreds cross between Eastern and Merriam turkeys.
