Yes, I have an Ithaca 37 about 25-30 years old. I used to shoot any $2 a box slugs through it and have killed deer out to 125 yards with it. Last year it wouldn't group the Remington or Federal slugs at all so I bought the Brenneke K.O. slugs and that made a world of difference. I picked up two more boxes tonight at Gander Mountain for $4 a box.

some smoothbores are pretty accurate.... with the right ammo... just make sure to use an open choke, like a imp cyl or mod...

I have been shooting a smoothbore all along, 18 years. but i am also using a slug barrel with rifle sights. with a reg barrel and beads its probably only a 50-60 yard rig IMO

I shoot two smoothbores with any old rifled slug, and my groups are always fine all the way out to 50 yards or so....

I also shoot an 870 with a smooth bore barrel. I have killed lots of deer. It's not the most ideal situation but i think i am pretty accurate up to about 50 yards. Anything over that is questionable. I am looking to get a slug barrel and scope this year though.

My dad shoots a smoothbore and we sighted it in and it shot consistantly at 80 yards. I just bought an 870 with a rifled barrel and it is alot more accurate and you can shoot alot further but the shells are expensive but it is worth it.

been using them my whole life, taken lots of deer with them. With the right ammo, you can get out there quite a bit I'd say 80. Don't use federal slugs you won't like them. And also you need to be comfortable shooting the smoothbore and long range. But yes they will do the job.

I shoot a benelli 20ga nova pump smooth bore and I love it! I killed a big 8 at 75 yards off hand Tuesday with it. The way I look at it is why spend 8.00 bucks a box for shells when you can get the same results out of a smoothbore with 2.50$ slugs

I have 2 Kessler 16 ga. bolt action from 1953. I only have $15 in the both of them. I have yet to kill a deer with it yet. I usually tag out before gun roles around.

I shoot an 870 smoothbore, A few weeks ago I picked up some Lightfields and was shooting 2" high and 3" to the Right at 85 yards. This was offhand too, not on a bench. Before that, I was using Brenneke Slugs and you really cant go wrong with them, Accurate and Hard Hitting.

I shoot a 870 12ga,21"barrel with a imp cyl choke. This gun has a Bushnell red dot and will shoot Great with Federal 1oz slugs. This is a sweet shooter.
