I want to buy a GPS Unit but am not sure which one is the best one for my money. I have decided that I want to get one from Garmin with a high sensative receiver and map option. Garmin offers several models which are the Legend HCx, Vista, Vista HCx, Summit HC, and Venture HC. They all seem to be pretty much the same except for the memory capacity. I want to get the best one but I don't have any experience with any of them and am looking for feedback from anyone who has used them before. Please post your suggestions, likes, and dislikes. Thanks to everyone who gives me help in advance.

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...&hasJS=trueThis one is the only one you want. The rest are just paper weights. Trust me in the fact that you want it to work all the time, this one will, the rest won't.

I agree. I have the Garmin map 60CSX and figure it will be the last one I'll ever get. It does everything I need, and more. Just as importantly, it's easy to use and figure out, especially if you've never used a GPS before.

Guys thanks for the recomendation but I guess I should've said that my price range's top end is in the $250.00 mark. I would love the get the one you suggested but to be quite honest I can't afford that much money at this time that's why I narrowed my options to the ones I listed. Any suggestions anyone can make on the models I've listed will be greatly appreciated.

I have the Venture HC and it works great! You won't be dis appointed. I got it to find treestands in the mountains in the dark and if I get turned around. Also use it to mark horn pick-ups in the spring. For safety i am buying a SPOT tracker.

I have read the SPOT is a POS just like all the GPS's that don't get a signal all the time. I haven't used the Venture HC but I know the Garmin my buddy bought for 250 doesn't work under tree cover. I have never lost the signal on my GPS the 60CSX. You buy a GPS for 2 main reasons, to know where you are and to mark waypoints and without a signal you are out of luck.
My primary prerequisite, as a hunter, would be water-proofness...I've owned the Garmin Rhino series in the past and for that very reason. If memory serves me correctly, it was good to 3 meters submerged for thirty minutes (so heavy rain doesn't pose a problem).
I've never had tree-cover present a complication for this unit while toiling in the Missouri Ozarks (noteworthy). It's range was outstanding and I also liked its instantaneous buddy-feature, which definitively characterized hunting partner's (and my own) locations upon communication.
I recommend taking a long hard look at the Garmin Rhino.

Yes this one is good too, and if your buddies have them also that would make for a huge advantage while hunting.
