Drop-time
Shot a hen tonight. Id love to be able to share an elaborate story, but truth is the hunt was all of 5 minutes.
As I deer hunted this morning, I watched as 15 birds passed within 25 yds of my treestand. Unfortunately the stand was on a field edge and even though ive got a turkey bowtag I wouldve been picked off drawin my bow for sure. Ive had good luck gettin back in the same area on an evening hunt with shotgun and since the gun season goes out in a few days, thats what I chose to do. The boys and I got all scent free(I hunt the same places for deer) and geared up and headed down the hill with a plan to work our way up the bluff and set up. I spyed them down by the creek as they seen us as well and started to move on. I eased up into a fence row and picked one out. Found a small beard when we cleaned her. I then had to explain to boys how its never this easy!

Nice looking turkey man.. I love fall hunting turkeys.. The woods are wide open and you can really sneak around good. Not to mention the sound of a brigade size element of turkeys raising all kinds of hell.. I was bowhunting deer tonight and had some 30-40 of them turkeys roost about 50 yards behind my stand. Kind of makes it hard to get out of your stand when you have 100 eyeballs looking everywhere.. I did have a shot at a big tom the other day, but I missed.. once again congrats..
