Is it a waste of time to hunt ducks in a marsh in the evening? Do they mainly land in fields to feed in the evening. Planning on going out tonight to the marsh but want to know if it's a waste of time or not. Thanks for any reply!

Do not go duck hunting.... that way there will be more ducks for me when the migrate south....

Seriously, I have had great luck hunting marshes in the evenings. They are coming back from eating and looking for a pond or puddle to land on and rest for the night. I would stay till dark if they are feeding heavy in the feilds. Besides if you are duck hunting, I know you won't be racking up any points for your deer team...LOL

Haha yeah, I can't score points for the deer contest shooting ducks! I shot my first duck this morning, a Green Winged Teal. This is the first year I've really gotten into duck hunting. Sure is fun when you get ducks circling! I'm still learning the calls and techniques but there's no better way to learn than from experience. We're going to head out this afternoon to the same spot and hope those northern ducks start migrating down with this cold front that has moved in. Only thing is, with the dropping temperatures the deer are going to start moving more too! Thanks for the help!

The more you hunt the more you learn. Also you willl have more oportunities to take ducks if you hunt the evenings and mornings. Evenings aren't really great because ducks have been shoit at all day but you will have a flock or two withing shooting range. If you hunt the last two to three hours before shotting time ends.

I encourage you to go because any time spent in the field/blind is a chance top learn and have fun.
