Does anyone have any experience with these? I have read several reviews of these spotting scopes and they have good ratings but I am wondering what some of the downsides to them might be. I am looking at buying a 20-60x60 spotting scope and I'm just not willing to lay down the big bucks for a Zeis or Swaro so a good cheaper scope is preferable to me. I won't spend a penny more than about $400 without good reason and a substancial gain in capability. I have looked at these and liked what I have seen but looking at them at the store and looking at them in the field is two different things. I appreciate your help!!

I have a Winchester spotting scope that I paid under $300 for. It is cheaper than alot of spotting scopes but works just fine for midwest deer hunting. I can sit at my kitchen table and scope out the window 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile or more and see deer or turkey in the fields.
Barska spotting scopes will do just fine also unless you are going to the mountains for goat or sheep. Western States hunting and scouting can somtimes be done in warm temperatures and a better quality is needed to help with the heat waves. Your purp[ose of use will determine what you need. wink.gif

I will be moving to Alaska next spring and going sheep hunting and all that. What's the recommended setup and why wouldn't Barska work?

i have had experience with ther binos they wernt very good went and got leupolds look at this one http://www.swfa.com/pc-6198-346-leupold-20...potter-kit.aspx

I've used the binocs. They work fine for me. I'm sure Leupold and other high end optics are better, but the price can be 10 - 20 times higher.

I live and hunt here in Alaska, So my best advice to you is to buy the very best optics you can, the weather can be 70 deg. one min. and turn to the nastyest you have ever seen the next. You will end up droping your optics at some poin in time the better ones will take a beating, in fact I have run my binos. over with my 4 wheeler and they still work. So spend the money and get the best. Untill you have been in the state of Alaska for one year you will need a guide to hunt sheep, goat, and griz. Good luck! Moose Horn
