elk-o-holic checking in! I will be hunting the final weekend of November for Cow Elk in Northern New Mexico. Going to hit a couple of sites way up on the mountains during opening weekend. During the week, I will hunting not far from work. If there is snow on the ground and it is cold, finding them will be fairly easy.

I will be hunting a wilderness area in So. Oregon. I hunted it for the first time last season. Over a period of six days I called in two bulls and ran into some cows. My trail cam is showing me that there is some real potential up there this year. If I don't tag a bull during archery season I will flip my tag for a cow tag. Either way I will be hunting as long as I can afford the babysitters.

I'll be in New Mexico unit 16D for the early archery season Sept 1-10. There is potential here for a toad.... If it doesent have horns on this hunt it won't be coming home with me. 325+ is the goal.... we'll see.

Sorry guys. I hope I haven't been given the boot yet. I just got back this morning from a week in northern BC hunting moose and bear. Didn't bring any moose meat home but shot a nice black bear. Anyways, I'm good for any name. I'll be hunting the rockies in southeast BC from September 8th-13th. I'm hunting in a 6 point or better region so if I get one, he should be a good one. Last year I had many 5 points within 30 yards but never really saw a 6 so I'm hoping all the 5's grew up a bit this year. I may also get to hunt southwest Alberta later in the fall as well and I also drew a cow tag for Vancouver Island but I'm moving before the season in December so I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it back for the hunt. We'll see. Good luck guys.

Sorry boys but it was a bust for me. I saw plenty of bulls and had oppurtunities but not on the one I was looking for. Lots of bugeling going on and I have to say it was a blast! I definately love it. Worst part is packin up camp and leaving for sure. I hope the rest of you did a little better than I.

I was kicked out of my area due to fire. I am still waiting to get beck up to retrieve my, probably melted, game camera. I now have until 3/31/09 to kill a cow on private property. I have given out four other tags for this property so will have to share the opportunities with others on this 800 acres.

I plan to do some late season deer hunting in November.

I bagged a cow yesterday. Now it is back to archery deer. How did everyone else do?

First off, I apologize for being AWOL since the beginning of the Elk Contest. I have been busy at work and helping friends/family on the weekends. I hunted two weeks ago and did not tag out. I saw a total of 7 Cow Elk the whole hunt and never got a shot. Actually, I did have one in my scope, but it was too early to shoot and did not want to chance getting in trouble shooting so early. Figured I would have another shot, but to no avail.
