I have problems hitting rabbits on the run. They're zig zaging in and out of view and sage brush. Do you guys think I should even try or just try to catch them sitting still? Is their some little secret to how to hit these types of targets? Or do you guys just hope and pray when this happens?

I'll try the whistle trick next time i go out. I think they get shot at alot out where I hunt them so they don't usually stop very much until they get to their holes. I guess I need to practice my leading skills at the range huh. haha

Me too, but when they're hideing in thick sage brush, it's hard to see them before they hear you.

i shoot them instinctivley, which is how i am most successful. dont try to aim and kill them with a shotgun. just pull up and shoot.( as long as its safe). you will start to kill more if you can get quickly on the rabbit with both eyes open

I've seen that video before. Once they can catch a jackrabbit in it's natural habitat, then I'll be truelly impressed.
I've been shooting at them with 7 and a half from the twelve because when I do go for rabbits, it's with my left overs from sporting clays or with the 410 single shot in shich case they have to stop for me to hit them.

yeah. lol. I went to the sporting clays course today and tried my hand at a few rabbits. I got a few of them out of the 4 report pairs and one true pair. I guess I need some more practice lol.

the quicker the better, i had the same problem years ago, dont try to aim, just shoot as soon as you see it take off, my rabbit gun is an 870 loaded with high brass #5's or #6's with an improved cylinder choke

I got a shot at one this past weekend out at the gun range with the 410, but I missed just behind. and maybe a bit low. If i'd had the 12 gauge with a backup shot, he'd probably had been mine.

Funny, when I was on the farm, the boss would point to one when he was on the combine. I would jump oout of the truck and catch it while he laughed. Fun times. We tried to keep a few but the always mysteriously died.
