Hey guys, I was lookin through my 08 Cabela's Archery and saw that they re-vamped the G5 Tekans. The have a black coating on them, the tip looks a little different and a little smaller, and the cutting diameter had increased to 1.5". Does anyone have any experience with the new ones? I shot Rage 2-blade last year and liked them, but i may switch to these.

I know my dad did not have real good results with the original tekans, he shot a deer with them and one blade didnot open up. I am sure that the news ones are probaly better.

I shot the old one, have not shot the new one. I can tell you it is going to be a more durable head than the rage, it has an 1 1/2 " cutting diameter now. I have not had a problem with them openning. They did work on the rubber band system on the new ones though.

arent the rubber bands just used as a shock absorber like on the rages? I'm pretty sure they use the same system for staying closed as the first tekans, they just have a bigger sharper shoulder to catch hyde to open more efficiently.

I shoot the old Tekan II's and I can't do anything but sing their praise. I guess my only disappointment with G5 products is that the blades aren't as sharp as I would like them to be. Other than that, I can't find anything to complain about.

The rubber bands are made of different material, not supposed to rot as fast. The cut head is a little smaller too. I will use them, I liked the old one. The rubber bands on the Tekken are for retention in flight not shock.
