Hey guys I just picked up a Jackpot glass call. I already took the rough sand paper to it for about 4-5 minutes, until it looked pretty roughed up, after that i took the finer sandpaper and did that for a few mintues until it got some more off. I sanded it all in one direction like most people recommended. I am just wondering did i do all that needed to be done to it to make sure it sounds ok and how often do i have to just sand it down to make sure it keeps sounding good (ive heard guys say they resand everytime they go out to hunt or some say they do it every few hunts) ? I am really new to this and appreciate all the help you guys give!

iI use a slick stick and I rough up my calls everytime I use them. to make it sound right you just have to find the sweet spot.

i resurface all of my friction call every time i go out so i don't have to worry if i get on one wheter or not my call is gona last long enough to get him in. i to have the jackpot and wheter you get on a gobbler or just sit calling, it wont take long for the surface to become less abrasive. i will also ussually if i have used it re do my box call by rubing lightly with a 3m pad and rechalk it. i recomend a slick stick so you can have every thing you need for this in one spot.

I use sand paper and drag it across the glass in the same direction until the glass is visibly suffed. Then you should be ready to go.

What kind of striker came with that call?
turkey terminator
Mine came with a custom striker, but i've seen others come with different ones.

Keep a cover on it while out in the field unless you are using it. Mine got smoothed out some when walking around. I now keep covers on all of them. The slate calls are even worse. Carry some sandpaper along with you to freshen it if needed. I keep some in a old film canister. Any small container will do cool.gif
