considering going to north colorado unit 14 (Glenn eden) or southwest colorado between Durango and cortes. Does anybody have any info about these areas. any suggestions, we would be very thankful

I am very familiar with the elk hunting on the western slope near Durango and Cortez. What season are you going to hunt and where do you plan to hunt? There is a lot of elk in the area but tend to get over hunting. Let me know and I can give you a bit for information.

we went to the end of hill side road nourth of cortes about one hour we didn't hear alot of elk but some of the other camps killed some nice bulles. they had been coming to the same spot for about ten years so I geass experiance does payoff. we allso rented horses from circle k outfiters. we just didn't have a lot of luck so just looking for some suggstions.

I know right where you have been hunting. I have hunted hillside drive for years. It is a very good hunting spot but requires a lots a physical activity. It is possible you have stopped by my camp in the past years. We always seem to kill elk each year. At times the location can be hit or miss depending on what the elk are doing but if you put in the effort you should find the elk. I have other spots closer to Durango and Cortez if you are interested. The elk population in southwest Colorado is extremely high and this coming season should be great. I went on my first Elk hunt in 06 in the Gunnison area... The thing about Elk ya have to find em and if your hunting late season I found that they all had moved to private lands. I had such a great time it didn't even matter that I never fired my rifle. I'm gonna try next year during bow season.

CO archer i went hunt the uncompodre forrest right out of montrose last year going back this year .couple of nice bulls killed in our camp do you ever hunt there
