This is probably the coolest piece of gear I have seen in along time. The SPOT, Satelite personal tracker, can be used to send a 9-1-1 call from just about anywhere to searchand resue. It give your GPS info to whoever maybe looking for you. What is even cooler you can send TEXT and E-mail messages to your friends and fam letting them know you are alright. The Device itself ranges from $169-$149, and the basic service package is $99. If you want you can upgrade for an additional $50, then your wife can use Google earth to track you in realtime.
I am most definately getting one of these, it will give my wife real piece of mind. Not a bad idea for you fellas that love to hunt alone. The responsable thing to do if you have a family, no reason to make your next hunt, your last.

That's pretty sweet! It's cheaper than a lot of the PLBs I've seen. I want to get into backpack hunting (probably alone most of the time) and I wanted a PLB but they're just so dang expensive. This may actually be in reach...

Wow, thats really cool. Definately something i'll think about. Thats something that everyone should keep in there hunting pack or on them while out in the woods. I hear a lot of stories of hunters dying or falling out of there treestands out in the woods and stuff like that. Whoever invented this is probably gonna make a lot of money.

Here's a review that might be helpful. It's a sweet piece of gear, but if you can't get a signal it don't help much I may wait until the gen II comes out...whenever that may be.

Don't worry about signal strenght, all of North america, is in the 99% range. This means anywhere you have a clear view of the sky, you can get a text message out within 20 min.

Saw it in a magazine and thought it was a great invention too. Would be cool to send an e-mail about what just happened....and where I hunt cell phone service just isn't gonna happen. The only thing they need is a video camera/ digital camera so I can send pics and vids to everyone at home....hahahaha...o and for the same price.
