Anyone having success shooting some chickens in their neck of the grass this year?
Good Reverend
Can't shoot the chickens in my state. I would love to have the opportunity too. I've been to Kansas a few times and have not seen any. Good luck!

Never hunted them, but it would be pretty cool to do so.

I think they're referring to prairie chickens...a type of high plains grouse. Used to have a season on them in western Oklahoma, but numbers went down so much they closed all hunting of them about a decade ago. Loss of open shortgrass prairie habitat, which they require for breeding and nesting grounds, was blamed.

Yep... we shot tons and tons of them. They were thick this year due to heavy spring rains. This year looks to be good too.

Ambrosia used to chase chickens around, you guys will have to ask her about it!

up here in northern ontario we have the ruffed grouse, spruce grouse and sharp tail grouse. We alway's have a pretty good population of all three grouse.I love hunting them. Our season run's from sept-15 to dec-31st.
