I would have to be in a torture rack to say its, "the best gun ever made". Its not.
I will definately agree that it is a very nice gun though!
I like mine a lot! Mine is not a Howa though. I like the AMERICAN built 270. But, you wont find it in my hands when hunting Elk or Moose. You will find me with my 30.06 when in the field after those species.

Howa rifles are made in Japan and imported by their owner, Legacy Sports. They do have a good reputation for accuracy and dependability, and their value is almost unbeatable in a bolt gun.

Howa rifles are made by Howa in Japan. They make the Weatherby vanguard for weatherby. That is where you get the weatherby thing. I have one in 22-250 and it is a good gun and fun to shoot.

I have a Remington 700 BDL 270. It has a Redfield 2-7x Scope on it. I am shooting 130 gr Core Lokt rounds by Remington. I love my 270. It was my first deer rifle, and I took a buck with it the first year I had it.

The Howa rifle you have is a good one. I've owned several in 270 win, 7mm mag and 300 wby mag. Of all the calibers I've shot I like the 270 win best for big game. It kicks very little and kills well. The elk I've killed with the 338 didn't die any quicker than the ones I shot with the 270.
