unless u like paying $75 for a tank of gas, u might want to shy away from a full size truck. i have an 03 Ram hemi, and the thing is killing me. luckily i live close to work, but i hate to even take it hunting because of the mileage.
look into a tacoma, dakota, ranger, colorado, etc.
im going back to a dakota for my next truck, or a tacoma... never thought id own a toyota...

Just bought a 94' Z-71 ext cab 1/2 ton, and that sucker is a beast. Its gotten me through some helacious terrain, and am by far impressed with it. I drive slow (50-55 mph), so I get somewhat good gas milage. But out in the hills, I'm trying to ignore the fact that it does guzzle just a bit. Regardless, I'd rather have two extra cylinders(V-8) than get caught losing power, especially if your gonna be pulling something.

I would get a regular cab Z71 from what you have described. It is going to kill you in gas no matter what kind of truck you get. I would go with a Chevy! I love my Z71, plenty of power and rides really well...not to mention it looks bad ***

International XT. Great gas mileage (about 9 miles/gal diesel) and easy on the pocket book ($118,000)

. Real small too, only about the size of a semi with a truck bed on it. And it doesn't require a CDL.

haha if i had the money for an international xt i would deffinatly already have one! lol i think i am going to try and find the reg cap z71 with the 350 in it. my mom has a suberban and that thing pulls like a dang mule. never knew the boat was behind it.

i need sumthing a little shorter than the extra cab. i got to be able to take this thing in places most ppl would jsut take a 4wheeler.
i hunt in swamp land, flooded timber. and lots of bad roads and small roads. so thats why i dont want the ext cab

I take back what I said about the International XT. Way you describe where you drive you need a 70 something restored/mint Jeep CJ with a 360 under the hood, Dana 44 front and 60 rear detroit or ARB locked with a 43 inch spring over lift, Atlas II xfer case, Advance Adapters 4 speed tranny, 15x12 rims running 38x14.50's. And the price would be around 15,000 and you can find them on EBAY motors, full out restored, setup almost just like that. It's short like you want, extra reliable, and you can put the high water kit on it and run it though stuff so deep that you will need a snorkel too. Not to mention where else a jeep setup like that could go as well. My opinion isn't bias either, just proven. I've only owned jeeps since the day I started driving. And non of them have been newer than 1979, and I just couldn't and still can't break any of them I do or have owned.
