Went down to Bass pro today, picked up one of these calls. Last year, i had purchased the M.A.D. buck growl along with the H.S. ezee wheeze, and then a week or so after that, i noticed primos had the buck roar out and it had a snort wheeze on it
anywho, i decided to just give the buck growl a try last year, had mixed results with it, one place, had a small buck have no reaction to it, another area, had a buck go nuts over it (neither close enough for a shot) i thought the growl was a heck of a grunt call, but the growl part i wasn't to impressed with....got home today and compared the two...the primos call is far better than the M.A.D. call IMO. deep sounding, and you can blow as hard as you want, and it doesn't give out that duck sounding call like the M.A.D. call. 2 thumbs up to primos for making this call!

on another note, i also picked up the new M.A.D. heat bleat, so far i like the way it sounds.

I bought the buck roar this year as well. I got it home and compaired it to some other grunt calls that I have (including some older Primos stuff) & it just sounds sooooo much better. I'll be tring it out in the woods during eairly muzzleloading season....I hope the deer like it as much as I do. Congrats on the call & best of luck .

Up to this point I have not used any calls. Mainly because where I hunt I have so many come thru that I have not need one. But this year we are going out west to hunt and I'm going to give one a try out there. Looking forward to getting now that I have heard suck good reviews. Thanks and good luck this season.

FYI

You don't need a call to do a snort wheeze. It is really easy and anyone can do it. I know that I will never get a job at Primos with that kind of attitude, but that product is a gimick because they have to know that you can do it without a "Call".

i use the can alot but haven't had much luck with a grunt call. however, this year a fellow hunter (who's opinion i greatly respect) said that he has had good results and he explained it in detail to me. i think i may give the buck roar a try this year.

I picked mine up at Bass Pro above Detroit and i got home and man it is one awsome call.

I hopr you like it more once you have used it in the timber. I love mine and I would not take anything for it. I now take 2 calls to the deer timber the roar and the can.

Yeah I love my buck roar. It is a good sounding call. I will be using it for my first time in the woods this year.

Just to clarify, the piece on top of the Roar in an amplifier, so that if you make the snort wheeze, you can do it louder. Just an FYI, the snort wheeze sound is deadly during the rut phases, especially leading up to breeding. If I could only do one call/sound that would be it.

Two thumbs up for the Buck Roar. In my neck of the woods, Wal-Mart can't keep them in stock for over 2 days. I'll be replacing my arsenal of calls with this ONE. Great sounding call!

I had heard a lot of great reviews on this product and decided to give it a try. I have 4 other grunt calls. I have used those and have had very little luck called in does a couple of times. I bought this on my lunch hour. and when I got home from work I headed out to the woods without watching the instructional dvd that came with it. I got in my stand in Michigan at 5:05pm today. and started calling. Within 2 minutes had a six pointer about 20 yards away to north he circled around and crossed a creek to the east did not get a shot because i wasn't expecting it to work so well so fast. about 5-10 minutes later i heard a twig snap behind me to the west and a HUGE BUCK started wheezing and grunting, I think he was about a 10 point? not sure he was in a thicket. then i looked to my right, to the south about 20 yards away was another buck, a 9 point. he walked right in front of me through my shooting lane at about 10 yards and I shot. he went about 75 yards. It is a nice rack with a 17 inch inside spread. SO 3 Bucks within the first 15-20 minutes of me using it. I will be in that same stand in the morning using this call again.

I agree. The snort wheeze is awesome. I have called in several deer including a decent 8 point on the last day of the season last year. I will be using it a lot this coming week. However, it is still easy to do with your mouth, and I have had better luck with a slightly lower tone. I did it really loud on a small 8 point that I could see and it spooked him. IMO you just need it loud enough that they can hear it.
