This will be my first year of grouse hunting. I was wondering how many of you include grouse in part of your hunting season? Favorite recipies?

lol #1 they are VERY fast and VERY hard to shoot in flight .... but if ur lucky enough to get one ... to clean the grouse you step on either wing and grab the feet withe ur hands and pull up and the breast falls out you just cut the wings off and thats it and a good recipe is shnissle I can't spell it ... its a german you can do it with lots of diffrent meat chicken and pork .... but any way u:
#1 debone the meat
#2 then beat the meat thin
#3 dip into flour
#4 then dip into egg
#5 then dip in bread crumbs

after that in fryingpan lil butter then fry on both sides ( this won't take long to cook concidering its so thin .... but when its done it tastes so good .....

Does anyone grouse hunt? Does a bear fart in the woods.

The one way I liked grouse the most was Smoked. I'm still trying to find something that works. I did watch a show last night that said to marinade gamey meat in:

Ginger
Onions
Soy Sauce
Sugar

i have never grouse hunted but i love quail and dove hunting

What kind of grouse are the rest of ya'll hunting. I'm in Idaho, and grouse are easy. As long as numbers are good I usually take a limit every day during elk season with my bow. One of the great perks of elk hunting with a bow. and pheasants are the only gamebird that competes in flavor. Other than sage grouse I've never had a gamey bird. I love to grill the breasts wrapped with a piece of bacon and brushed with a lemon-butter sauce.

I have been grouse hunting in Colorado up in the mountains not much luck though - that recipe sure sounds good.

the grouse cycle is on the peak this year so we should have a good year here in wisc we have mostly ruffed here and some sharpedtail they are quick and never give you a open shot they fly through the timber alot of walking fire roads and letting the dogs point or flush them for us good luck

Grouse #'s seem to be down this year. At least in this area they are. Last year there were covies of 15-30 birds flying around. This year they left the field cut and didn't plany milo so NO birds. Tried a couple of other areas the birds I did see were small compared to last years hunt.

i do! they are very tasty! cook the meet with johneys seasoning salt and salt and pepper! not to much though because the meat is amazing!

Grouse are awesome! I have killed a blue grouse with a few different weapons... Bow, 410, 12g, sling shot, bb gun. i think the blue grouse number are up this year, found a ton elk hunting! We were backpacked into an area and all we had to eat was freeze dried food. Nothing to look forward to. But my brother in law shot a grouse, so we built a fire and cooked it up..... SO GOOD!!! of course we were dying to eat something different.
