I from North Mississippi and because of the rains we have had the ticks. I've never seen this many. I'm 41 and i can't remember a time this bad. I planted cow peas and put out several mineral blocks. Can some of you guys tell me what to use to keep them off of me. They just eat right through off. Something unscented and potent.

When i worked in the oil and gas field, the metermen would wear flea collars around their boot ankles when they had to walk pipelines. It worked very well for them. Hope this helps. Only I wouldnt wear it for very long though.

Off makes a product called Permanone. DO NOT psray it on you!
Sray your clothes down the night before and then put them on. If a tick gets on it he dies.
During the off season scouting or working in the woods, sprinkle powdered sulfur in your pants, socks, shirt etc.
does not smell good but keeps the redbugs and ticks off of you.
Not suggested for deer season though!

Permanone is the stuff!!! You're supposed to spray your clothing and let them dry before putting them on, It works for 2-3 weeks before you have to respray. And yes it is some nasty stuff so don't spray it on yourself.

Is Permanone sold over the counter, I ask because in another thread it was mentioned that it's poisonous. If so where can it be purchased. Thanks

Permanone is actually the product name made by the Off! people. I think the actual chemical is called permethrin. It's sold OTC in pretty much any sporting goods store - Walmart always seems to have plenty.

We have an infestation here as well - just he other day was mowing the lawn and came into the house to cool down and drink some water, was sitting in my chair and pulled three off - they love cedar trees here and that is what we have in the yard. I have killed deer in the early season and they had them all over teir bodies - the dogs get them no matter what type of precautions you take.

If you will get some malithion liquid, dilute it to a strong concentration, and spray the trees and your yard, you will get rid of them.
Gets rid of fleas also.

Just follow the instructions on the can. Read them all and follow to the letter. I've never found a tick on me when I used Permanone!
