what is your guys sugdestion on a flat shootin 308?? that is 350$ and below? I know it sounds corny but I have a very limited bugdet and any other sugdestions would be great thanks lake.

dont know what to tell you bud. what action you lookin for?? i gotta .308 in a remington 760 and boy its the nicest gun ive ever touched period. they cost about 700 new and i got mine used with a scope and it was already dead on for 320 i think. it is in top of the line condition to. nothing wrong

The NEF Handi or Ultra rifles are good setups in that range. Of course, you'll still need to top it with a scope unless you plan to hunt with open sights. I think you could probably get the Handi rifle and a Millet Buck Gold or Silver or decent Bushnell mounted and stay inside that range. If you have a local Wal Mart that is still selling guns, check out their inventory regularly. Many WMs are no longer selling guns, and those that still do are unloading the extra inventory. One of the guys I work with got a scoped Savage in .30-06 with accutrigger and synthetic stock for $318. I'll probably hear some BOOOOS on this, but you may also look at the Remington model 710 or Mossberg 100ATR. I've heard that the Mossburg is a decent gun and a good value, and I know the 710 to be a consistantly good shooter - you just have to keep the action clean for it to be reliable, and you're stuck with that ugly gray stock unless you camo it yourself (no aftermarket stocks exist for the 710). You can usually find 710s and 100ATRs in the $200-250 range pretty easy, and probably even with a scope. The 710 only comes in .270, .30-06, 7 mag and .300 win mag. Not sure about the Mossburg.

Go with the Savage and buy the 168 grain Hornadays which cost about 24 box and you can shoot with anybody. Cheap but great scope from Sportsmans guide on the enternet and can be in the game for under 400. But you may have to buy the gun from Walmart to save alot more, they will order you one and it will never be touched by hands if you order it. Don't take one from the store if they have it in the glass case. Tika has a great gun and comes with mounts but it costs around 440. Some savages and Winchesters come with a scope and mounts brand new just shop around.
