My brother and i both have 8mm mousers. he has a K98 and i have a yugo. but both are identical except for one has a turned down bolt and the other does not. I was wondering if you had to get a new bolt of bend it or something to that effect to be able to get a scope on it. I planned on doing it myself but i talked to a gunsmith and said that he would not do it because the safety will no longer work. If i got high rise mounts do you think it would it make any difference? is there any truth to it? My brother and i both cant figure out if it would or not. also is there anywhere you can still purchase 8mm. i cant find them under 200 anymore when i bought mine i got it for $98 and i wanted another one so i could scope and hunt with one and keep the other original well any info would be nice. thanks ahead of time

I sporterize mausers for a hobby, plus I own one I scoped and have an all original. To mount a scope, you have to have the bolt bent. You can order aftermarket safety levers and bent-bolt conversions from Advanced Technologies: www.atigunstocks.com
They also make a stock that has a scope mount made into it. Good luck.
