I really want to get a Remington semi auto 30-06 (which is what I shot my first deer with) but everyone keeps trying to talk me out of it. I think its a great gun and it got the job done right the first time! Many people suggest that I get a Remington mountian rifile or a Remington Mohawk. Any suggestions?

You should listen to your fiance....he is a great hunter. He is very wise and knows what he is talking about when it comes to all matters of deer and turkeys. Also trout and things of that nature.

Try to shoot a few different rifle and caliber combinations and choose the one you are comfortable with. I own a Remington SPS in 270wsm and a Browning A-bolt in a 7mm-08. Love both of them but the 7mm-08 is my favorite. Lite and hardly any recoil. My wife shoots a Ruger in 243 and it is a sweet shooting rifle. If you are going to hunt mainly deer I would take a serious look at the 7mm-08. Low recoil, very accurate, plenty of knockdown power. But like I said, try to shoot a few and choose what you like, after all, you will be the one shooting it.

So what is the question here? I really don't see one. You like the Remington auto, you have confidence in the Remington auto and you will be the one shooting the gun. There is no question, you should use the Remington auto.
A question for your Fiance, or anyone else? Why would you try to push her away from a gun she wants to shoot and hunt with? It has plenty of power for all non dangerous game in the US. Sure, there may be other guns that would work for her but who cares? She is the one who has to have confidence in her equipment.
Go with what you you know.

If your willing to spend atleast $500 go with a Weatherby Vanguard and Ruger 77 MII. I got both and they shoot awesome groups. My Weatherby is a .308 with hardly no kick and the Ruger is in 30-06 with some kick to it. Spending around $300 I would say get a NEF, they are real accurate. My brother shot a bear with his .270 100 yards out right in the heart, blew it to pieces.
