I am going to Alaska and can't seem to find much good information on calling or judging Moose. We have a 50 inch minimum or 4 brows. I have the Primos Moose Horn. Any help would be great.

for the most part you can call moose with your mouth. I have just learned from listing to bulls and cows talk. but you should be able to find some sound clips online and then practice trying to repeat the sounds. for making a cow sound try taking your right hand and plugging you r nose with your thumb and index finger and then do a long drawn out awww sound that's the best I can explain it for you as far as the bulls go that just takes time to learn just listen to bulls and then try an make the same sounds. its hard to judge bull moose width so I cant help you there it just comes with experience.
good luck

The bull moose sound is something like the sound you make after four bowls of all bran and six fiber bars. The best I could explain it is a grunt and a moan at the same time. When a bull is heavy in the rut they become more or less dump as a post. Just about any sound that is close to a grunt will draw them in. I hunt moose every year here in BC and a few tips would be: beat a tree with a stick to simulate the raking antler sound. If you can't find a good moose get an empty coffee can (the big cans) and punch a hole in the middle of the bottom. Take a piece of butchers twine or any cotton string (12-24inches) and push it through the hole so it hangs out the bottom. Tie a knot in one end so it wont come through the hole and wet the string down. Grab the string tightly with thumb and finger and pull. Let your fingers slide down the string as you pull on it. You have to pull hard enough to make the bottom of the can vibrate as you pull. This makes a pretty good cow call and it is a good base to learn off of. If you are already a coffee drinker, this is basically free.
As far as judging goes, brow tines are far easier than inches. Make sure you have good optics because antler and stick look too much alike. If its a 60+ inch bull... you'll know.
Good luck on your trip.
