What are some of your suggestions for a new gun for waterfowl and turkeys. I just got into waterfowling and was looking for a good all around gun. I was looking at the Benelli Super Black Eagle and Remington CTI 105 in 12 gauge. I will settle for something more affordable but I'm not afraid to go all out and blow some cash. Alot of people seem to like the Super Black Eagle and I was wondering how they pattern with factory chokes and what steel shot ammo you have used for geese and ducks. Thanks.

I've been using a Winchester Super X2 for just those hunts since 2000. It does very well for both. It will cost you lots less than a SBE2.

The SBE2 is an awesome gun. I have a Browning Gold 10 gauge (mossy oak, NWTF model) that I really like and does an awesome job on waterfowl and turkeys. I am anxious to see how the new Remington HD ammo patterns. The only downside to the 10 gauge is it is limited to ammo and choke choices.

I think your crazy not to go with the Remington 870's or 11-87. Any Remington Shotgun is a great buy. They are very well priced and they last a long long time and they pattern great.

If it was me bud i'd probably go with the 11-87 sps camo, its not like you could go wrong with the Eagle either, I thought I remember you saying something about a 10 gauge before as well take a look at the Rem SP-10

just dont forget to let the ol 870 out once in awhile when you get your new toy

I have an 870 in 20 gauge as it has done a fine job in taking most of my turkeys, grouse, rabbits and such but I was just looking for something easier to buy ammo for. The stores around me aren't exactly stocked with 20 gauge ammo, especailly for waterfowl.

And the 11-87 has always been a favorite if mine too, just haven't seen many around. Thanks for the help fellas.

If your not affraid to "spend some cash" I'd go with a Beretta Xtrema II. I would also recommend a 26" barrel, it's not to big for turkey and not to short for waterfowl, I own a Beretta and they are super nice guns and VERY reliable. Try this link http://berettausa.com/product/product_field_guns_main.htm Best of luck with your decision

YA GOTTA BE KIDDIN' ME huh.gif . I own a Mossberg 835 ultra-mag as well. I use it on rainy days and as a loner gun if i'm taking someone hunting that doesn't own a turkey gun. The mossberg is a pretty good gun for the money, BUT, it doesn't even come close to the quality of the Beretta.

Brenner, I'd go with the Super Black Eagle. As far as mine goes, they pattern good with Steel Shot (if memory serves I use #2, 3 or 4 for Waterfowl) and the felt recoil is almost nothing. I love it, But like you said...you gotta be willing to spend a pretty penny if you're gonna get A Bird with all the Trimmings wink.gif

This fall I was looking for a good autoloader and i was looking at the BSE II and the Beretta Extrema II. THey both are very nice guns, but I bought the BSE II because it just had a better feel to it for me. Great for waterfowl, upland, I'll see how it patterns out this spring for turks.

I too would go with an 11-87 SPS Camo. Thats the gun i plan on getting eventually to do the same as duck hunt and turkey hunt with. Or if you cant find one of em then id probably get the Remington CTI 105 in 12 Gauge, but the only down fall to the CTI105 would be finding a Turkey Choke for it, unless Remington makes a Probore Factory Super Full or something that i am unaware of or if some other company makes one that i am unaware of. Or you could just use the full choke that comes with it, and just pattern a bunch of loads with it and use the one that patterns the best with the full choke...

But I would try and find an 11-87, but do what is best for you and what fits you, and what you feel comfortable with. The nice thing about the CTI105 is its bottom eject, which if your hunting in a blind for ducks with a group of guys, it would definitly come in handy!

Good Luck with your decision and let us know what you decide on!

For turkeys/waterfowl I would recommend an 870 super mag for a pump, and a 11-87SPS magnum for an automatic.I have both of these guns(my 11-87 is 3" though),and they are great. The pump hits really hard on turkeys.Personally I like a longer barrel...28" for turkeys, but you know 23-24" is the popular thing for turkeys now,but since this would be a dual purpose gun I'd rather have the 28" barrel for waterfowl.

The 105cti does look nice, but I don't know much about it,that's why I can't say yes/no on it.Bennili boy is right about chokes for it.

Well I have had benellis, mossbergs, winchester, and browning shotguns but my favorite shotgun is a Remington. I dont know if you can out work them they always have worked for me no matter the condition or situation.

Super Black Eagle!!!!!!!!!!! There isnt a better auto loader out there imo. It would be my first and only choice I actually plan on getting one for next years water fowl season. I love the gun and I have yet to find one that will top it.

If you want quality ans not the big price tag you can go with a bennilli nova. I have owned one for years. now ya I bought an Winchester super X2 and love it. but when the weather gets realy cold or bad i always go back to old faithful. Nova 12ga. the only problem that I found out with the nova is don't use the factory mod. it sucks with steel. but it's a great gun. and if you cann't stand a little kick you can get the recoil system. you can get the nova for anywhere from $250 nd up. for ducks I use Kent faststeel #2's in 3.5" and for geese I use BB in 3.5" or rem. hevi shot in #5's in 3.5". I almost always use 3.5". 3" are hard to find so I just go with the 3.5".
