I shot a mosseburg 100atr 270.(great gun). I know that each gun shots a little different but all around which ammo is the best all around.(velocity, expansion, durability, reliability, etc.).
Thru n' Thru
Remington Express CORE-LOKT 130gr.
jacko'neill
Hornady 130gr sst interlocks. The best accuracy that I have ever shot. I shot a 7 round group that you could put a dime over at 200yards.

Huntingfreak9 opened my eye about this barnes bullet and then I did some looking into them. I would also like to give a little credit back to him 8) . Hope you find what works for you sharpshooter. Also somebody stated about trying federal bullets. Their premium bullets are made using...........yes the barnes bullet. You cant go wrong giving them a try if you dont want to reload.

winchester's acubond is ok, but not the greatest, if you want to make a good kill with that bullet, the animal; has to be like 300yrds, b/c at anything closer it will just blow into pices....................it is a very high velocity bullet..............but dont get me wrong its good.

Don't want to start an argument, and I'm certainly not trying to down play anyone but as far as the distance needed for effective use, NOT TRUE! The Accubond performs excellent from 50 yards to 400+ yards. We recently shot an elk @ 60 yards and it had a perfect mushroom (expands roughly to the diameter of your pinky finger), hit one shoulder blade, spine and the opposite shoulder blade. The bullet ended up inside the hide on the opposite shoulder. Total meat loss was maybe a pound and a half. If anyone needs pictures of the opposite shoulder blade and bullet we can provide. The other elk was shot at over 400 yards and had the same effect. The bullet does not fly apart, shot too many animals at varying distances that says otherwise with minimal bone fragmentation and meat loss and the animals go down, in fact on some animals the bullet has passed through the animal after hitting leg bone with an exit hole as that described above. In short, it is a sound bullet and with a load tailored to your gun, accuracy is there as well. By the way, I shoot a .270 WSM 140 gr Accubond with 58.0 grains of IMR 4350 powder.

Just my observation... :? :? :?
