I'm trying the spitfire broadheads this year. What is everyone's preference on the broadheads out there these days???

Still using the trusty thunderheads, but I have been giving some serious thought to trying some mechanicals. I dont think you can go wrong woth the spitfires. I haven't tried anything from NAP that wasn't well made.

Muzzy 100's 3 blade, they're simple but i've never had a deer run more than 75 yds. from where i shot it. never heard anything bad about them either. guess if ain't broke don't fix it!

100 grain Muzzy 3 blade. Built to last and blades don't fall off... can't go wrong with a Muzzy.

I shoot the 85 grain SpitFire and have loved the results. Aim small and you'll get good results.

Thunderhead 100s; just switched from Muzzy. Both are great, I just couldn't get past the blade sharpness of the Muzzy 100 - didn't seem all that sharp- Thunderheads are a different story altogether - no doubt on the sharpness. Both are well proven.

I'm going mess with some mechanicals next off season...but for now I love the Montecs...I like the sound of those 2 in diameter expandables though...they'll have to wait though for now...cause some deer are getting in the way of my setup....I hope

Be careful with spitfire Broadheads,i have three friends that have had very bad experiences with spitfire Broadheads and have talked to countless others who have not had much good to say about them,i cant personally comment because i have been shoot Wasp JackHammer mechanicals for a long time
I have shot 15 Buck with the bow so far and 10 have been with JackHammers.
Although i have to say this year i will be trying either the Rage Mechanicals or Grim Reapers.
But Go with what you feel Confident with, and dont let anyone convince you that mecahanicals are no good, my local archery shop is dead set against them, but i get deer every year with them.
Good Luck!

Over the years, I have used 100g 3 blade Muzzys, RM Snypers, Thunderheads. I had a bad experience with every deer I shot with the snypers and just can't say enough about the Thunderheads !!!! The thunderheads have put a awesome in and out hole on evry shot taken !!

so far i've read each of these replies and no one has said anything (good or bad) about muzzy's 3 blade 75 grain. I've yet to take a deer with these but i did almost get a robin hood at 20 yards(actually cut the vane on the first arrow). i know that says nothing about their stopping power but man do they fly strait.
so tell me do i need to get something else?

I really don't think you can go wrong with Muzzy's. I prefer to shoot a little bit heavier head though, but that's just me. Currently I shoot 100 gr. Spitfires, but I have considered switching back to fixed blades. I think with my current setup I will be able to get good flight (I swithced to mechanicals about 5 years ago because of flight issues). If I were going to shoot a fixed blade broadhead it would be a Muzzy 3-blade or a Thunderhead. Although the Montecs really look good too, but I have heard they are pretty hard to sharpen. Anyone have any experience with this?
