I reacently bought a nef 410 pardner i think the choke is either full or modefide. I allso bought 2 boxes of cartreges one box of #8's and another with #6's and im soon getting some slugs for coyotes and other small game, someone recomended #6's for forest grouse to me, but i am going to be takeing most shots from under 10 yards and the spred was very dense and only about 6 inches. It would blow up the bird. what size would you recomend for me? I would like to have some meat leftover because grouse is good eating!!!

PS- thanks for all the help choosing the gun. This gun is amazing, it cost 80$ im impressed. the only downside is its alittle short for me, no big deal though because im not gonna be useing it much. Its my first gun other than a .22 and bb guns!!

thanks agin - bowhunter boy

At ten yds it doesn't matter what size shot you use you'll still blow them up. I say go with the 6 shot though. Less shot that will stray into the breast meat. At 10-15 yds. put the bead on the head and fire up the BBQ because dinner is served. The 8 shot will be fine since you bought it but the 6 is a better choice for head shooting them up close and will carry more energy for longer shots. I LOVE GROUSE!!! You've got me all fired up!!!

Have fun and save some for the rest of us.

P.S. It should say the choke on the barrel of the shotgun. I would think it's going to be full which is better.
